Otsego County's Office of Emergency
Services received funding to create a regional campaign to promote awareness of
handicapped parking spaces. The project, which will include radio ads,
billboards, and print brochures on NYS Thruway rest areas, is being
administered through the Catskill Center for Independence (CCFI).
As a result, due to a strong ongoing
partnership with the CCFI, Riverside was selected to lead the way. We held two contests for students in grades
3-6. The first contest was to develop a slogan; the second contest was to
create artwork to support the slogan.
Shapri Krone was our slogan winner – If it is blue – is it for you?
Eve Rokhvadze was our artwork winner.
The CCFI honored Shapri and Eve during an assembly by presenting them with a certificate and fifty dollars. They thanked all the students in grades 3 through 6 for their participation by hosting an ice cream social.
The slogan and artwork will be seen on billboards all across New York State. The slogan and artwork will also be on t-shirts, notepads, and coffee mugs.
We are making a difference!
We are so proud of our students! Way to go, Evie and Shapri!
